Would you look at this. I have never seen these numbers before. It basically says that real estate agents a bunch of old white ladies that make about $37k a year.

In DFW the number of realtors (and I use that in the non-NAR sense) has declined about 6% since last year. Nationwide they are losing about 17% of their income this year. The average age is 54, and Eighty Eight percent are white. WOW.

These are startaling statistics. I think that the age of the agent is dying… Or maybe all of the agents are dying, I am not really sure. But in any case there is no doubt that real estate could use a giant overhaul.

Why do people even use real estate agents? Where is the value. Any halfway intelligent person can navigate a contract, closing, and chose a decent property. I would bet that my readers are smarter than the average real estate agent. No doubt in my mind. You are wiser, more intelligent, more contemporary, and tech-savvy than the average real estate agent. This goes for everyone, agents and non-agents.

Ever wonder what drives a market down? Foreclosures. That and people being forced to sell at a loss.

Seems like defaults are what is hurting Fort Worth Realty. Unfortunately, it tends to effect those who are most at risk as is.

So problems tend to arise when groups like the NAR push legislation to assist in this department. Inevitably, and understandably, the government wants to push for contractional voidances. Problem is, deeds of trust are typically not voidable. It sets a bad precedent and infringes on inherent legal rights, understandable as it may be.

West and Clear signed off… for good. What a bummer. I can understand though, it’s taxing. I hate to say it, but I could almost see it coming.

    Note events:

    1. Pete says What do YOU want? Suggesting he’s tired.
    2. Kevin goes on Hiatus. I think he’s in it for the long haul though. His audience is beyond regional, and you can tell it’s a passion.
    3. Steve get’s really sporadic; then ends West and Clear.

It’s sad, but I understand. These are taxing things. Anyone can tell you that. I have even heard Sonja say that sometimes she posts from a “Labor of Love”; and she also seemed to notice the lapse on W&C.

The ad rev is no prize either mind you.

Check out this goofy article about the NAR going to D.C. to “inspire legislators and public policy to stabilize the real estate market and spur economic recovery”. I mean, do these guys think that they are the first one’s to bring this up? Like a light bulb went off somewhere?

No, of course they don’t. The NAR just wants to emphasize the key role that real estate plays in recovery. As if congress wasn’t aware of that. But they are forgetting some main tenants like consumer confidence, lending, existing policy, and higher financing mechanisms.

Congress is handing out cash for new homes. Interest rates are at 40 year lows. What does the NAR want? Almost any agent can tell you of a time when they felt bad participating in sale to someone they new was over leveraging.

You know what I hate? Overarching organizations who create words and then copyright their usage. Organizations that elephant into a creature with dollar signs in their eyes and weild autonomous power over industry. Organizations that create reasons for themselves to be worthwhile.
