The City of Fort Worth, in conjunction with the League Of Neighborhood Associations, held the 2008 Neighborhood Award Ceremony today. On hand was State Senator Wendy Davis, who gave a nice speech. I was really looking forward to a short answer session from Ms. Davis but unfortunately it never came.
The 2008 Neighborhood Of The Year award went to Ryan Place. Specifically unique to the historic neighborhood was their initiative to have “Porch Parties” which they gave themes to match holidays and events like the Kentucky Derby. Of course the main goal of these parties was to bring the neighbors together regularly and form better community. Interestingly Ryan Place is the oldest and longest running neighborhood association in Fort Worth. This year marks their 30th anniversary.
Congrats to Ryan Place for such a neat idea.
