Found this video about some things to avoid with real estate agents. I am sure everyone has an opinion on this, but I just found it kind of amusing.

I don’t have television service in my home. And I don’t have a functional radio in my home either. I prefer it that way, but sometimes when the weather gets bad I can get a little nervous. I never know exactly what is going on, or where a tornado might be. My only way to check it is to get on the Internet and see what Wunderground or Weather.com have to say. Needless to say though, relying on my ISP in inclement weather is a little dangerous.
So today I saw an add for updates from the City of Fort Worth. The ad took my to a site called Nixel.com. Nixel is a lot like twitter in that succinct updates can be broadcast by the publisher, in this case the city of Fort Worth, and then received by me via text or email. Not only is the city of Fort Worth on there, but also the Tarrant County Office of Emergency Management, and several smaller local municipal functions.
This is a pretty darn good idea, and it works for me to keep me posted on emergency info. Apparently though, Nixel is scalable to serve any local organization which wants to keep folks informed. So check it out. I didn’t have to think twice about signing up.

Fred’s Texas, the hamburger joint tucked in behind all the new development on 7th, had tried to create some space for a vaulted patio. Looks like the inspectors shut that down fairly quickly. After they installed a zillion beer taps they began running out of storage space in the back. The solution was to haul in a large shipping crate to create extra room. Unfortunately this took up space on the patio. It was a logical solution to build a deck which on top of the container, but I think there are some code problems with it being on a movable platform.
Unfortunately the deck will be shut down until they can rework the pillars on the structure. Apparently there is also talk of bricking in the storage container and maybe building an office on top of the deck. Any way you cut it, I like Fred’s and I hate to see them lose any patio space. I am also fearing the crowds that will be created by the neighboring developments.

I noticed that the old Cattle Raisers Museum on 7th street is getting gutted right now. They have a trash chute backed right up to the front door. Soon to come will be the new Cattle Raisers Museum opening this year, right next to the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame.
It should be pretty neat. 10,000 square feet is an awful lot bigger than what they had before. Among interactive exhibits they will also be touting a new theatre, which is pretty cool. But what I am really looking forward to is the video game that lets you run your own ranch; or you could go on their virtual cattledrive the “Ride-Along Round-Up”.
So now my only question is what will become of their old location on 7th St. I hope it doesn’t remain stagnant for to long.
