Ever heard of a SmashBurger? I haven’t either. But apparently we will be familiar fairly soon as the Denver based franchise intends to open 12 new burger joints around town.
When I think about this I just can’t help but feel like there are an aweful lot of burger places around Fort Worth. This doesn’t include the fast food chains. Just the regular burgers. Dutch’s isn’t that great. Charlie’s is amazing. Fred’s is a staple. Boomerjack’s is actually pretty good. Love Shack is fine, but the new venue sure seems a little “Dallasy” to me. Jake’s is pretty good. Kincaid’s only takes cash (or did they change that?). Tommy’s differs from location to location. I still haven’t made it to Myrtle’s Burgers.
I know I am leaving some out, but you could almost write a book about all the burger places in town. With age I find that I am more likely to hold the fries.

“‘We’re certain that Smashburger will become Fort Worth’s favorite burger place in no time,’ said David Weaver, managing partner of Cow Town Inc., in the release.”
Most people who review burger places I’ve encountered have a fierce love for local joints. I can’t see a chain out of Colorado swaying any of them, nor the FWWeekly “Best of” burger categories. However, with 12 location in Fort Worth they may soon outstrip the local establishments in sheer volume of burgers sold. Depends how you define ‘favorite’.
Not sure there can be too many burger places. I’ve been waiting for one to open on Magnolia ever since B.J.Keefer’s went away. Hopefully that’ll be one of the locations. (Though I gotta give some love to Old Neighborhood Grill right around the corner)
