Kevin has a great rendering of the Stayton that will be built by So7 Townhome/Midrise development.
I would think that this market would be hurting. On one hand you have an incredible portion of the population heading into retirement, but on the other you would think that cost cutting would keep grandma at home. Apparently not, as 75% of the units have already been sold. Pre-development, that’s not bad. In fact, it looks like the most economic development in town.

Someone asked me the other day about “those nice condos on the East side of Downtown”. I instinctively knew which ones they were talking about (Le Bijou) and knew that they were pretty pricey. Never knowing much about them I thought their bottom unit price to be about $700k, but what I didn’t know was that they were on the verge of foreclosure.
There are only 14 units in this development, and it has been tough for the developer to make sales of them. While they are some of the most spacious residences available in downtown, they are also among the most expensive. I am not surprised that they are foreclosed on. I for one would hate to respond with “Le Bijou” everytime someone asked where I lived. It just seems like a pretty phony french accent to throw on in Fort Worth.

There are a few down sides to the new Cowboy’s stadium being so much closer to Fort Worth. Traffic being one of them. In an attempt to alleviate the issue the city is trying to find logical places to shuttle in large amounts of people. Residents at the T&P Lofts are not to happy that this hits so close to home with them.
Apparently there had been talk of utilizing the loft’s visitor parking along Lancaster to provide shuttle rides to the new stadium. This has met with some residential resistance, and it is my understanding that city is promoting parking along Vickery as an alternative. A $5 Dollar parking fee and another $5 ride fee should take you all the way to the stadium.
I can sympathize with the T&P residents, but it seems that this would be a good thing for the south end of downtown. If they really want to build vickery up to be pedestrian friendly this would be a great draw. Surely there will be some congestion added, but it’s relatively rare and seasonal. Also part of living in a growing and thriving city center. Perhaps some gains in our public transportation could aid this cause further.

I noticed that the old Cattle Raisers Museum on 7th street is getting gutted right now. They have a trash chute backed right up to the front door. Soon to come will be the new Cattle Raisers Museum opening this year, right next to the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame.
It should be pretty neat. 10,000 square feet is an awful lot bigger than what they had before. Among interactive exhibits they will also be touting a new theatre, which is pretty cool. But what I am really looking forward to is the video game that lets you run your own ranch; or you could go on their virtual cattledrive the “Ride-Along Round-Up”.
So now my only question is what will become of their old location on 7th St. I hope it doesn’t remain stagnant for to long.
