I found this humorous, so I just had to note that a 71 year old man was caught by a female deputy mowing; in the nude. The only clothing that the Lake Worth man felt would be necessary was a pair of tennis shoes.

Apparently he ran back into his house when he saw her. Later he emerged (with shorts) saying that he believed his yard was fully private. He was given a citation.

Tarrant County is on track to have about 20,000 foreclosures this year. We are averaging about 1500 a month so far.

Here’s an interesting site that will allow you to break down foreclosed and REO listing by City, County, or Zip. You can also switch it to a map viewer viewer that gives it some cool tangibility.

Thanks to Chuck for writing in, or I never would have looked this stuff up. And JJ, you brought up some good points about the percentages in your comment yesterday. I have to admit that I was a little perplexed by it, but I was drinking beer at Capital Bar when I read your comment.

Peter Greenberg’s Ask the Locals City Guide featured an interesting article on a trip to Fort Worth. They seemed to hit the highlights like the Stockyards, Billy Bob’s Texas, and Joe T’s. I will say that they had Fred’s Texas listed in local highlights, but aside from that it was pretty typically what you would expect to find in any standard Fort Worth visitors guide. Which is totally boring.

When new people come to town I prefer to try to get them to do some of the things that are a little off the beaten path. I am notorious for tricking people into showing up to the Spiral Diner (organic vegan food for those who don’t know), and if not that then I prefer other local eateries. Things that come to mind would be Margie’s Italian food or M&M’s Steakhouse. I would absolutely never take a visitor to Joe T’s when I could take them to The Original, but that’s just me.

I wonder what would be listed if someone were to come up with a true locals guide to Fort Worth.

An 11 year old Mesquite girl died of Swine Flu recently. This is a sad case, and would appear to be the first regional death originating from H1N1 virus. Apparently the girl had no previously existing conditions. While some Swine Flu deaths can be attributed to a combination of illnesses, this one proves that H1N1 is deadly in itself.
