Dallas Fort Worth Foreclosures went up about 32% from the comparable (third) quarter last year. That’s really saying something. An incredible number of almost 16,000 homes defaulting, just this quarter alone. Collin, Denton, and Tarrant counties all set record foreclosure numbers this quarter. About 45,000 homes have defaulted this year.

The Business Press says that since 2000 The area has quadrupled it’s foreclosures.

Found this video about some things to avoid with real estate agents. I am sure everyone has an opinion on this, but I just found it kind of amusing.

Fred’s Texas, the hamburger joint tucked in behind all the new development on 7th, had tried to create some space for a vaulted patio. Looks like the inspectors shut that down fairly quickly. After they installed a zillion beer taps they began running out of storage space in the back. The solution was to haul in a large shipping crate to create extra room. Unfortunately this took up space on the patio. It was a logical solution to build a deck which on top of the container, but I think there are some code problems with it being on a movable platform.

Unfortunately the deck will be shut down until they can rework the pillars on the structure. Apparently there is also talk of bricking in the storage container and maybe building an office on top of the deck. Any way you cut it, I like Fred’s and I hate to see them lose any patio space. I am also fearing the crowds that will be created by the neighboring developments.

I am going on vacation. You should also. I mean it. I don’t want to see you here for at least another 3 or 4 days.

If you need something to do around Fort Worth check this out. Such wonderful things to do like:

    • The Forest Park Miniature Train (I like being in confined spaces).
    • Sundance Square (For the Emo/ Homeless/15 year old/ screaming religious zealot/ Asian tourist/ in all of us) (also good for random fist fights, I suggest the Library or City Streets).
    • Stockyards (again, random fist fights).
    • Log Cabin Village (has anyone ever actually been here?)
